A designer drug promising eternal life? Sounds pretty darn great. But in this Steven Soderbergh-produced lo-fi sci-fi shocker, it also means that ninety-seven percent of all women become infertile. Two extraterrestrial brothers finally resort to drastic means to demonstrate the drug’s catastrophic effects to its manufacturer. Divinity is psychotronic cinema at its best, rendered in black-and-white chiaroscuro, draped in retrofuturist aesthetics, sequined with the most exquisite VFX . . . at any rate, the kookiest, most tripped-out movie of the year.
