A couple plans to spend an idyllic long weekend by the lake. Their plan suffers from a lack of respect not only for each other but also for the nature that surrounds them. After several transgressions, fauna takes revenge. From this simple premise, director Colin Eggleston spins an intelligent, profound thriller about the toxic relationship between modern humans and their surroundings. The movie ultimately draws the obvious yet depressing yet shocking conclusion that nature would be much better off without homo sapiens. (mk)

Colin Eggleston
Eggleston, Colin (1941–2002) was an Aussie writer and director. Debuting with the feature Fantasm Comes Again, a softcore pic directed under the pseudonym Eric Ram, his second feature, Long Weekend, became a cult hit. His career took a dive in the late 1980s, but not before leaving some more entries in the Ozploitation catalog, such as Innocent Prey, Cassandra, and Outback Vampires.
