“Belgian wave” is a term for a series of UFO sightings in Belgium between 1989 and 1992 and serves as the real basis for this highly enjoyable neon road trip. Journalist and comedian Karen and graphic designer Elzo share an acquaintance with a reporter who has been missing since his coverage of the sightings thirty years ago. Director Jérôme Vandewattyne puts the charmingly spaced-out duo in a pink Chevy and sends them on an LSD-soaked wild-goose chase from Brussels to the Ecuadorian jungle, laced with trippy characters, found footage, absurd comedy, and a smooth electronic score.
