The trigger in the title of Richard Some’s ultraviolent revenge orgy has dual significance. For one, the trigger is pulled more often than eyes are batted. On top of that, our anti-hero and war vet Miguel is suffering from PTSD after his special unit, including his best friend, were butchered. Working as a security guard he is now patrolling an industrial hall, when one night two young siblings on the run from a corrupt anti-narcotics taskforce arrive at his doorstep. Somes, Richard V. began his career as a production designer under the wing of renowned Filipino director Erik Matti, who compared his set designs to the music that would come out if Pantera and Nine Inch Nails formed a band. With his own take on genre films, Richard graduated to directing for television and film. His more than 20 credits include Yanggaw, El Peste, Kid Alpha One, and Sentensyador. Triggered, his latest work, may be his most ambitious to date.
